The Muslim Literacy Project (MLP) was devised to help disrupt many of the characterizations and tropes that have been imposed upon Muslims within public and academic discourse. The project has three components so far: this website, Muslim Literacy video and a workshop that creates a space to deconstruct problematic narratives about marginalized communities at large.

This website is intended to be a resource for educators and learners.  The “Resource” section (Education, Music, Articles, Videos, Art, Blog) contains annotated bibliographies, media, and links to the original source of the respective content. Secondly, the MLP has produced an original video that’s accessible for educators.

MLP was started at the University of British Columbia by Rabia Mir, a graduate student, and was supported by the Student Development & Services department. The work has been undertaken on unceded Musqueam territory.
